Celebration of Inclusive Sport Festival

A great day was had by over 150 students with special educational needs (SEN) from schools throughout the Wyre Forest.

Young leaders from King Charles 1 and Stourport High School supported Wyre Forest School Sport Partnership co-ordinators Joe Lindley and Caroyln Goddard to run a superb Celebration of Inclusive Sport Festival consisting of Archery, Boccia and New Age Kurling. KS2 and KS3 students, with a wide range of SEN, took part in and enjoyed the three different sports on offer. Some students were just grateful to be invited to such an event and 'loved' taking part. The responses 'written all over their faces' showed just how much they enjoyed being a part of it. "My favourite was the archery". "Can we do it again this afternoon?" "I loved taking part." - were just several of the comments from the students. Other students took it 'ever so slightly more competitively' and were rewarded with team medals for being first, second or third in each of the respective sports. Winning teams will now progress as Wyre Forest representatives to the Worcestershire Winter and Summer School Games.

All students played with a superb spirit of enjoyment and inclusivity. Many thanks to all the young leaders who ran the event with such skill, charisma and enthusiasm. We look forward to holding more events at our new school.
