Russell House
Referrals to the provision can come from the Local Authority and/or from within the school with the Local Authority’s agreement. The criteria for admission to the provision includes: supporting older pupils to develop life/independence skills preparing them for adulthood, supporting pupils where due to family circumstances life in the family home is difficult and education is impaired, supporting pupils that require additional extracurricular education with life skills, and supporting pupils who may require a consistent education/care joint package for other reasons agreed through the Annual Review, CIN or LAC process.
Children thrive and make excellent progress in this residential provision because they are surrounded by carers who have high aspirations for them. Children have close bonds with carers, who show them what it means to be valued and respected. Interactions between carers and children are playful, affectionate and nurturing.
Parents spoke highly of the exemplary care provided by the residential provision. They told inspectors that their children thoroughly enjoyed their visits and wanted to return as soon as possible. They highlighted the remarkable progress their children have made since joining the provision and expressed gratitude for the service.
When I’m at Russell House, I get to play with my friends, and we go to lots of fun places. My favourite things are going swimming, the disco, and youth club.
